Learn How to Cut a Guy’s Hair the Right Way
There are many options to this tip, but for those that don’t favor the “bowl” cut or shaving him totally bald, here is a good option.
Things you will need:
1. Top quality (pointy) shears
2. Brush (fine and/or wide toothed)
3. Clippers with attachments.
4. Band-Aids for any “clipping” accidents, just in case.
Getting Started
Wet the hair freely before cutting and towel dry. Brush hair to get rid of any tangles and to get an idea of how and where to cut.
Trim the back of the head first and get that nice crisp line with a little clipper. Use also around the ears.
Consult the guy about how short he’d like it to be. Comb the hair forward and make an hypothetical line down the middle of his head, like it were between his eyes separating the right side from the left side. Pull the hair up between your fingers where your hypothetical line is, and cut to desired length (often as tall as your finger is against his head).
After cutting your complete line, brush hair forward again and begin at the front of the head.
You need to spot the length difference where you cut. Using that as your guide, make another “line” to either the right or left of your original one and begin cutting again as shown in above steps. Brush the last time after the whole head has been trimmed.
Look over to confirm no spots were missed or to touch up any areas a little more.
Some Good Tips
It is usually best to have your man shower after a cut, and before going out, to get all those little hairs off his neck, ears, and so on.
Next time when going to the salon, take a while to observe, and perhaps even take notes on, a hairdresser cutting a man’s hair.
This is the most effective way to learn. Get tips from your favourite hairstyle mag.
Some Warnings
Whether this is your initial time or hundredth time cutting hair, you are certain to cut yourself at some point.
Use caution as to where your fingers are from the shears (keep a look out for the person’s ears as well).
