what can i do with thick short hair?

i shaved my head about four months ago. it looked awesome and it was a rad experience, but now it is growing out and it looks really awful. I have thick, somewhat course, hair, and it is really hard to style. Its about 3 inches long. Does anyone have any tips, tricks, sites, pictures, or youtube videos about styling thick short hair?
