How I can maintain beautiful hair while my hair grows naturally?

I have relaxed hair that is short and the style like Rihanna, but lately I been thinking about going natural, because I want my hair back. I tried to go natural years ago but the transition period is so unbearable, but now I've been doing my homework and I get my last relaxing in December, but what I can do with my hair while I'm growing my hair in that "lol awkward "stage?

I'm doing it and I've been getting braids (micros) in the meantime. when you take the braids out after 2 months or less, cut about an inch of relaxed hair off, Deep Condition!, then get braids again. is a long process, but totally worth it.
