The Right Hair Style!

Is you hair looking healthy and are you happy with your hair style?  Or are you searching for ways to change it?  

A short hair cut for mature women is preferable to long hair and will look neat and tidy plus it is easier to manage.

Obviously as a Mature Woman, your hair may have gone grey unless you are one of the very few lucky ladies who keep their natural hair colour well into the mature years.

A good hairstyle also encompasses the condition of your hair.  A head of hair that is in healthy condition will add to the overall appearance whatever your style.

The condition is the first aspect that has to be addressed. Then and only then can you decide on a hairstyle.  One of the points above is that hair can have had years of treatment with strong acids which has made it thin and brittle and it this is the case, it can be difficult to achieve a good style.  

Obviously each person has a different type of hair and condition but nowadays there are so many products on the market that allow us to enhance the condition of the hair, either by conditioning it well, there are shampoos and conditioners that give body to the hair, there are vitamin supplements that promote the growth of hair.

When deciding on your hairstyle you must be aware of the shape of your face.

This is an important part of the Makeover because getting this part right will enhance your stylish look.  Remember, your face is the first part people see.  But most importantly is that you are the one who likes your hair style.  This helps to give you confidence, if you feel good about yourself, you simply radiate confidence and command respect because these are the attributes to do with elegance and style.

Colour is a vital part in a hair makeover.  Too often women wish to keep their blond hair and tint the hair with unnatural shades, this is just plain wrong, style is about enhancing one’s best assets and at all times to keep as near natural and getting a hair colour that enhances the complexion.  There are so many ideas which can help to give your hair the colours that look right, colours can be combined, then there is the possibility of having high or low lights which add interest to any style.  

The hair cut should be adapted to the shape of the face and at all times aim to look smart, stylish with co-ordination in everything that involves your appearance.  Long hair in the mature years is questionable unless neatly tucked up in a French bun  which is the ultimate stylish appearance and looks so tidy but short hair is ideal too, easy to manage and looks good .  The possibilities are endless.

Face Shapes and possible Hairstyles

Diamond Face Shape:  ‘t’  A bob would suit this shape with hair swept out of the
Face, possibly with an Alice Band which could look very smart and tidy.  For
information, Alice bands are sometimes frowned upon but the right one will
add glamour to any hairstyle and look good whatever your age and this means that you can have your hairstyle at chin length which will just look great.

Triangle Face Shape:  ‘r’  A short layered hairstyle would suit this shape because the widest part of your face will be the jaw area and you would want to avoid having your hair around that part of your face because it would add bulk where you don’t really want it.  The style possibly cover half you ears.  You could have a side parting swept back or even a fringe.

Inverted Triangle Face Shape:  ‘s’   A swept back bob would look good but a
short layered style could also look good.  As you can see, the widest part is around your forehead so you want to draw the attention away from that area. would also suit to deflect from the narrow jaw line.

Oblong Face Shape:   ‘’  A tidy swept back short style, it could be a French bun but could also have a side parting.  A layered bob would also suit with a fringe.  This would take the focus away from the length of the face.

Square Face Shape:  ‘o’ A swept back bob would suit this face shape.  Avoid having hair fall into the face as this would end up covering a third of your face..  This face shape would benefit from a bob where the hair is one length and swept back if possible.

Heart Face Shape: ‘©’ This shape would benefit from a style with a parting on
the side and very layered  to but jaw length to fill in the narrow area of the jaw line.

Oval long Face Shape: ’0′  Swept back hair is the best style for this shape of face but a bob with a fringe would also suit.

Oval Face Shape:  ‘O’ Swept back with Alice band, but a bob would suit too.

Round Face Shape:   ‘l’ Side parting and bob with hair coming just below the ears.

The important thing is to remember that the shape must be age appropriate.  A young girl can get away with any old hairstyle even though the style may not suit the face shape.

At all times consider your own preference too.  There are so many possibilities today with the new techniques of cutting so that the hairstyle can be adapted.  A good hairdresser will know exactly what you need and will give you advice but it may take time to find that special person.

Try and look at women’s face shapes and hairstyles and assess for yourself whether you think they have got it right.  It is a good way of deciding which hairstyle you want for yourself.

N.B.  There are many styles suitable for each face shape but be reminded that the hairstyle has to suit your face shape and also be suitable for your age.  The colour of the hair also plays a crucial part.
