Styling products for layered bob?

On saturday Im getting an inverted bob with LOTS of layers in the back that Im…well, I don’t really know how to put it, but the style Im trying to achive involves volumizer and styling paste to make the layers in back stick up.
I had a haircut like this a few years back, but my stylist was zero help in what products to use. I have Aveda control paste, it was only used two or three times, but the expiration date is up and if I remember it didn’t work too well.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could recommend good volumizing mouse and styling paste. I’m trying not to spend too much, that aveda stuff was like $25 or something….I was single at the time of buying that, and now Im married to a husband that prefers I don’t blow money on hair products like that hah

Most of the Big Sexy Hair line could really help. What a Tease: Backcomb in a Bottle will work great on the underneath of your layers in back. Spray near the roots too, not just the ends, like the bottle says. Just don’t get too close – you’ll have a rats nest of white sticky stuff. Do Root Pump Plus mousse all over.

I also have an inverted bob with fine straight hair that really needs help to get volume. The shampoo and conditioner don’t work, so skip that.

I like to get a “present” for my fiance when I go out and splurge on hair products. It distracts him just enough so he won’t be asking to see receipts.
