Lost Cosmetology student…….?

Well I attend cosmetology school and Ive been there a while and I still feel lost. I mean all the clients we have are old so the only experience im getting is uniform haircuts and perms. I need help with cutting a flat top.. what do u do next after you buzzed the sides? what do u do with the longer hair on the sides to make it stick up? I dont even know how to cut a diagonal forward bob! Im so depressed help!

buzzing hair with a # 4 on sides (just example) then a number thats higher on top then you blend the sides where the line meets ( the line where the two numers are touching) you can do that with the # 4 holding it just slightly above the head and eyeball it. sizors take to long. if the hair is realy long on top you can hold it inbetween your fingers and use them asa guide. you need to practice or better yet go to another town and watch a barber do his clients! youll see how they do it( make beleive your looking for a style in a book).
