I am going to the debutante/prom tomorrow, how do I keep my hair straight?

I have naturally very curly hair but I am straightening it tomorrow and flicking it out like Storm form Xmen- http://www.calendarlive.com/media/photo/2006-05/23266551.jpg

Although my hair is shorter, i have done it before and it looks cool. However there is one problem? How do I stop it from going fuzzy after an hour? How do I keep the style for the whole night?
Gels won’t work because they just make my hair go all curly! Anything wet like that will make it curl up! So no mousse either! Tons of hairspray? Anything else I could use?

USE A FLAT IRON AND HAIR SPRAY.
